FAQs

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage is a form of bodywork performed on a mat on the ground. Unlike classic western massage, the Thai massage client remains fully clothed. Thai massage includes a combination of compressions, thumb points along ‘Sen lines’, and assisted stretches to bring the client through a wholistic manual therapy treatment that regulates the nervous system as well as heals musculoskeletal and energetic ailments. Thai massage is an integral part of traditional Thai medicine that addresses the whole person, different from classical massage therapy which focuses on the musculoskeletal system. It was developed over many centuries in Thailand with the influences of the medicine practices of neighboring countries such as India and China (Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, etc). Thai massage has roots in Buddhism as Thailand is a Buddhist country.

My Thai massage treatments are nothing like a traditional massage therapy session or a traditional Thai massage. The are a blend of traditional Thai techniques and energy healing. I include steamed herbal compresses that have many medicinal, anti inflammatory and calming qualities, locally made herbal salves and restorative music.

Cancellation/No Show Policy

**Due to a series of no shows and late cancellations I am now adding a strict cancelation policy to my practice. I appreciate in advance for your understanding and respecting that these sessions are valuable, limited, and they make up my livelihood.

Cancelations and appointment changes are available up to 48 hours before your appointment. If you forget about your appointment, no show, or want to cancel in less than 48 hours from your appointment, (outside of serious emergencies) you are responsible for 100% of the appointment fee. This applies to gift certificates as well as paid sessions.

What should I wear?

Please wear stretchy or loose fitting clothing that is comfortable, covering, and that allows you to stretch and move easily. Natural fibers like cotton and linen are optimal. Dark colors or garments that you don’t mind getting discolored as the hot herb packs can sometimes stain white clothes. In Thai massage you will be assisted through a myriad of dynamic stretches and movements onamat on the ground. It’s important that you are fully clothed and fully comfortable!
